ADY is updating the rules for platform access and train boarding

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) is making changes to the rules concerning passenger access to platforms and boarding trains at railway stations and terminals to improve service quality and ensure complete safety. According to the new guidelines, from July 20, 2024, passenger registration and boarding will start an hour before the scheduled departure and will end five minutes before the departure. This will allow passengers to board the trains comfortably and on time.

Additionally, access to the platforms will be restricted to ticket holders only. To ensure smooth movement and high levels of safety, it will be strictly prohibited for those seeing off passengers to enter the platforms. Passengers will be provided with free assistance to transport their hand luggage to the train using carts available at the stations. Station staff will offer prompt support to elderly and physically disabled individuals, as well as parents with children, to help them carry their luggage.

Furthermore, according to the new guidelines effective from June 8, 2024, passengers without the original form of ID or with expired documents will not be allowed to board the train.

Under the new rules, additional options will be available for the types of documents presented during boarding.

A passenger can present their ticket along with the original ID used to purchase the ticket or another document of the same identity. For example, if a ticket was purchased with an ID card, the original passport (or vice versa) can be presented to board the train.

If a passenger updates their ID before the travel date for any reason, they can board the train with the new original document.

The acceptable forms of ID that passengers may present are as follows:

- ID card of a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan;

- National passport;

- Military ID (for those in active military service and cadets);

- Birth certificate or ID card for children under 16 years old. For newborns (within one month), a certificate from the maternity hospital;

- Prison release certificate;

- Other temporary identity verification documents;

- Temporary residence permit for foreigners and stateless persons in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Passengers are requested to familiarize themselves with the new rules when purchasing tickets from ADY's official website (www.ady.az) or through the "ADY Mobile" application and to follow these rules to ensure a comfortable travel experience for everyone.
